Superstitious beliefs behind Africa’s underdevelopment – cleric

The founder of Solid Rock Kingdom Church in Akwa Ibom State, Apostle John Okoriko, has attributed Africa’s underdevelopment to superstitious beliefs held by its people.
The cleric who made the assertion on Wednesday while speaking with our correspondent in Uyo, the state’s capital, urged Africans to change their mindsets as there is nothing like witches and wizards.
He said it was wrong for Nigerians and Africans to always attribute their wrongdoings and misfortunes to spirits instead of owning up in any human situation.
He said “there is nothing like witches and wizard, our believe in Satan, demon and superstition have drawn Africa backwards in development, Nigerians and African continent must change their mindsets to this”
The cleric who maintained that poverty is an option, said the present economic crisis being experienced is caused by greedy politicians who have devised means to mop up the newly printed notes at the expense of the poor masses.
According to him “the poverty affecting Nigerians that Nigeria has been classified as poverty headquarters is because of lack of knowledge. What will help Nigeria to overcome poverty include staying away from the company of poor people and self determination rather than waiting for automatic miracles.”
He advised Nigerians to participate fully in all the elections and vote for any candidates that would change the narratives of the people through productive policies and programmes.
