Angry students and school security at the University of Benin, have beaten up some group of soldiers over the issue of new naira notes.
News Band gathered that the soldiers in their unprofessional manner yesterday, stormed the university front gate where some of the Automated Machines (ATM) were stationed and started withdrawing money forcefully without considering other Nigerians who have been in the queue for hours waiting for their turn to make withdrawal
An witness told News Band that when one soldier withdraws, he will go out and inform his colleagues who are also in need of money to come.
While this was going on, a female student who was just holding her phone was sighted and confronted by the soldiers who thought she was recording their action.
The soldiers beckoned on a female counterpart who was among them to brutalize the female student but luckily for her, the incident was happening close to the crime office of the University (Uniben school security) which prompted their quick intervention and she was rescued.
The soldiers got infuriated and started questioning the school security and other students why they were interfering in their matter. At this point, the school security and students went berserk and ordered the soldiers to leave the school premises.
This however, did not go down well with the soldiers and immediately, fight erupted among the three parties.
In a video exclusively obtained by News Band Newspaper, a soldier was seen being beaten up by some group of students and school security operatives.

At the time of filing this report, some irate soldiers returned back to the school in the wee hours of today, vandalized many cars, beating up and injuring security guards.
Efforts to reach the spokesman of Edo state police command for comments, was abortive as his mobile lines were switched off.
