Former Emir of Kano, Alhaji Lamido Sanusi, has met with junta leaders in Niger Republic.
The meeting between the coupists and former bank chief is coming after the junta controlled government called off a meeting with representatives of the African Union—AU, the regional bloc—ECOWAS and a top US diplomat.
Military authorities in Niger turned down a meeting request by ECOWAS and the US delegation following the regional bloc directives ordering member states to close their border with the former French colony on Monday.
Meanwhile, details of his meeting with the coupists at the time of filing this report is not known.
