The embattled leader of the Indigenous People Of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu has not dissolved the separatist group in the United Kingdom which was registered as Private Limited Company.
News Band Newspaper launched investigation after it was reported in some section of the media that the movement has been finally dissolved in the United Kingdom.
A check at the official website of Companies House, however, shows that IPOB has not been dissolved as a business entity in the UK as widely remoured.
Companies House is a government section within the department for business, skills and innovation. It deals with the regulation and incorporation of limited liability partnerships and limited companies in the UK.
CH stands as the official registrar of companies in the UK. The major duties of Companies House include inspecting and maintaining all information on LLPs and limited companies. The information displayed on the register of companies House can be accessed online by the general public as well as all businesses.

This paper in 2021 had reported how Nnamdi Kanu appointed his wife as a director in IPOB after a new round of registration for the organization was done following the departure of their former deputy leader, Uche-Mefor.
IPOB in the document of registration which was obtained by News Band Newspaper, was registered as a private limited company with the following registration number 13127887, while it was incorporated on the 12th of January, 2021.
When News Band Newspaper visited the official website of Companies House and typed in the registration number of ‘IPOB WORLDWIDE LIMITED’ sighted in the original document, automatically, it reproduced the exact information.
IPOB WORLDWIDE LIMITED appeared as the name of company, with the same address and 12 of January 2021 as the day it was incorporated.
Speaking exclusively with the former deputy leader of IPOB, Uche-Mefor over the development, he said the document which is been shared on the internet was the first registration IPOB did when he was still active with them.
Mefor further explained that the company was finally dissolved because there was no director to file the account as Nnamdi Kanu is in detention.
He said, “This company was one of the first that was being used. It is a company limited by guarantee. However, there was another one called Indigenous People of Biafra World CIC ( this is more of Community Association which is like a charity but not regulated by the charity commission).
“Somewhere along the line in 2020/2021when I resigned, they registered IPOB limited. It is not run by different people. Kanu is still the Director. The closing of that company does not have any effect on IPOB.
“The reason why Kanu was temporarily removed as a director was for them to file the company as Kanu was not around and as only directors with significant control can authorise/sign the account for filing.”
