Gunmen set lawmaker’s home ablaze in Anambra

Gunmen have razed the home of member, representing Ihiala Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Dr. Paschal Agbodike.
The criminal elements this medium gathered, invaded the house located in Ubahi-Mbosi in Ihiala Local Government Area at about 1am on Tuesday and started shooting sporadically before setting the house ablaze.
Agbodike was also the former deputy speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly and the place of the incident is his hometown.
At the time of filing this report, no life was lost, but the house consisting of a fully-furnished five-bedroom duplex with four living rooms and a kitchen was destroyed by the hoodlums.
The lawmaker, who confirmed the incident to newsmen on Tuesday, said he was informed about the incident on the telephone.
He was in Abuja carrying out his legislative duties when the attack occured, adding that before security operatives arrived the scene, the hoodlums had fled.
He also did not state if he suspected anyone, or whether it was politically motivated.
The spokesman of the command I. Anambra, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga while confirming the attack, said that surveillance efforts are in place in the area.
Ikenga said, “The area has been condoned and security operatives have been deployed in the area and they are assessing the situation. There is ongoing surveillance by the operatives.”
