JUST IN: Abia APP appoints Chief Ukaegbu as new chair, names elder Ugorji campaign DG
2 min readAhead of the 2023 general elections in Abia state, the Action Peoples Party (APP) in the state is not leaving any stone unturned in making sure that the party emerges victorious at the polls.
At a brief meeting of the state executive council, LG chairmen, ward chairmen, and the candidates of the party at the party’s state secretariat in Umuahia today, Elder Mark Ugorji was unveiled as the campaign DG, while Elder Princewill Ukaegbu emerged as the new state chairman of the party to replace the outgone chairman, Chief Sylvanus Nwaji, who is contesting for the Federal House of Representatives Ukwa East/South Federal Constituency.
While handing over the mantle of leadership to Elder Ukaegbu, the erstwhile chairman, Chief Nwaji thanked Mascot Uzor Kalu, who doubles as the party’s governorship candidate and leader, for allowing him to serve meritoriously. He also besieged him and all the members of the party to give all the necessary support to the new chairman.
Elder Ukaegbu, a former Chairman of Umuahia North Local Government Area who recently defected to APP from APC, in his remarks, stated that his conviction to join the party and subsequently become the state Chairman is borne out of three cardinal points: power should return to Abia North in 2023; the youthfulness of Mascot Kalu as governorship candidate; and his experience in governance as the former Chief of Staff to the Abia State government.
Mascot Uzor Kalu also used the opportunity to officially announce the appointment and unveiling of the Director General (DG) of his Campaign Organization in the person of Elder Mark Ugoji of Umuahia North. He took turns to elucidate the qualities and capacity of his director general, who he believes will bring his wealth of knowledge and experience to bear.
On his part, the newly appointed DG of the Mascot Uzor Kalu Campaign Organization, Elder Ugorji, expressed his appreciation to Mascot Kalu and other party faithful for finding him worthy to do the job. He also reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring the victory of the party in the governorship election.
“Your Excellency, thank you for believing in me to do this job, and I am making a promise to you that I will execute this task perfectly. Let me also assure you that I will do the job with all diligence, honesty, and integrity.”
“As a man of action, I will also go the extra mile to ensure your victory at the polls. I will even go to the enemy’s camp and poach the right people needed for your victory,” he added.
Elder Mark Ugorji and Princewill Ukaegbu are grassroots political stalwarts and mobilizers in Umuahia North LGA of Abia State, and their wealth of political experience is expected to come to bear and push the candidacy of Mascot Uzor Kalu to victory in the 2023 election of the state.
