NORTHERN GROUP RALLIES FOR PEACE AND UNITY IN NIGERIA
1 min readComing on the heels of the June 12 Democracy day celebration in Nigeria, a northern socio-political group The good Governance Group Katsina State chapter held a peace rally demonstrating the need for peaceful coexistence between all tribe and ethnicity.
The group held up placards reading “one Nigeria”, ” We want peace”, “Nigeria first”, ” We prefer peace to war ” and many such other placard that sued for peace and unity in Nigeria.
The event culminated in the award of Hon. Prince Uche Okonkwo as the Ambassador of Peace and Stability in Northern Nigeria in recognition of his tirely efforts towards ensuring peace and unity in the state. Hon. Okonkwo is a Special Adviser to the the Governor of Katsina state. He being the only non-indigenous Aide to the Governor of the state.
Accepting the award, Hon Prince Okonkwo thanked the Governor of the State for elavating to the position where he is able to work for peace and unity in the state. in his words “I would like to use this opportunity to commend and thank my father, Right Honorable Aminu Bello Masari who lifted me to this position which attracted an organization to recognize my commitment in justifying the confidence reposed in me by the Governor.”
He prayed for the continued peace and unity in Nigeria.
