Tobi Amusan charged With anti-doping violation, to face 2 years suspension

Women’s 100m hurdles world record holder, Tobi Amusan has been charged by the Athletic Integrity Unit (AIU) for missing doping tests.
Amusan disclosed this via her official Facebook page.
Under the World Athletics Anti-Doping Rules, any combination of three whereabouts failures (Filing Failure and/or Missed Test) within a period of 12 months constitutes an anti-doping rule violation, for which the applicable sanction is two years’ ineligibility subject to a reduction to a minimum of one year depending on the degree of fault.
While reacting to the charge, the 26 years old athlete declared herself “a clean athlete” and vowed to challenge the allegations.
She said, “Today, the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) has charged me with an alleged rule violation for having three missed tests in 12 months,” the athlete said
“I intend to fight this charge and will have my case decided by a tribunal of 3 arbitrators before the start of next month’s World Championships.
“I am a clean athlete, and I am regularly; (maybe more than usual) tested by the AIU – I was tested within days of my third ‘missed test.’ I have faith that this will be resolved in my favour and that I will be competing at the World Championships in August.”
Meanwhile, Amusan won the 100 metres hurdles at the Silesia Diamond League in Poland on Sunday, setting a new meeting record of 12.34 seconds.
