Senate president: Kalu will entrench national stability, strengthen APC nationwide with inroad to S’east — Group

As the battle of the seat of Senate President ahead of the inauguration of 10th National Assembly continue to rage among the key political players in some parts of the North, Southeast and Southsouth, a political pressure group known as Orji Uzor Kalu Grassroots Movement of Nigeria has told the national leadership of the All Progressive Congress (APC) to concede the revered top seat of the Senate to former governor of Abia State, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu for the best interest of the nation and that of APC as the ruling political party.
The grassroots group who made the call in a press briefing held at its national headquarters in Abuja assured the national leadership of All Progressive Congress (APC) that the Senate Chief Whip if chosen as the Senate President from the Southeast is the right political calculation as it would invariably yield a dual advantage because Kalu will muster the capacity to entrench national stability on one hand and on the other hand he has the political structure capable to strengthen APC nationwide with a massive inroad to the Southeast.
National leader of the group Alhaji Murtala Mohammed alias ten ten told journalists that the dual advantage of entrenching national stability and strengthening APC nationwide is vital enough for APC to chose Kalu from the Southeast as the next Senate President. According Alhaji ten ten “Kalu as the Senate President will muster the clout, experience and acceptability among relevant authorities to address the issue of agitation among the youth in the Southeast and also lead APC to the next level in the Zone”
He added ” Those who are working against Southeast over the issue of Senate President do not have the right political calculation for the stability of this country. APC already have two States in the Southeast which include Ebony and Imo States respectively, so by the time you give the Southeast the Senate President other States in the Zone will see reason to identify with the Party. What I am saying is that conceding the Senate President to the Southeast will attract national stability and a bandwagon effect to APC most particularly at this point in time when the People Democratic Party (PDP) has completely lost ground in the zone”
The national leader recalled that PDP was able to make a massive inroad in the Southeast in the past years because of the fact that the PDP gave the Southeast a lot of juicy positions including Senate President maintaining that conceding the Senate President to Kalu will shape the political future of the Southeast toward APC and equally put APC in a stronger position to take over the entire Southeast as PDP did in the past.
